It's A Thugs Life
Kickin' it in South Florida

Thug Life Customs has a philosophy that there is "a little thug in each of us." Whether you are a banker, a lawyer or a candlestick maker, when we climb on the seat of a badass chopper, we're all bad boys. Carlos Rodriquez and Roger Suarez, the owner of the bike, are fabricators at Thug Life, and they designed and built the bike together. Carlos says that Roger is "a real hard-core guy, really works at the thug image." He wanted a bike that reflected that image long, low, mean and dangerous, but still classy.

Starting with a War Eagle frame, they cut out the front section and replaced it with a single downtube. The use of the War Eagle single-sided swingarm gives the bike an open look. When building this bike they invested in a frame jig and tubing benders and have since begun producing their own frames in-house. They created many of the billet accessories that are seen throughout the bike. The covers, shifter linkage, pegs and grips are all handmade with the Thug Life logo machined in. Roger and Carlos fabricated the superlong, streamlined stretch tank, oil tank and rear fender. They built the unique handlebar assembly from scratch in eight hours, just in time for the bike to appear in a custom show.

In keeping with the hard look he wanted, Roger was going to paint the bike matte black, but Carlos talked him into going high gloss. Mad Art, a custom paint shop in south Florida laid down the shiny black PPG enamel and Sonny Depalma applied the airbrushed demonic tank design. All the wiring, cables and hydraulic lines on the bike are hidden. The front brake caliper is nearly invisible, thanks to the use of 8-inch-over American Suspension forks with their integral padlock-style caliper. The brake lines are run internally in the forks in this design. Very slick. The 113 Ultima motor was built by in-house wrench Jeff McDonald and runs an S&S Super G and pipes from the Martin Brothers. The simple dependable ignition is from Dynatek. It's a fire-breathing monster, perfectly in keeping with the bad-boy theme. Thug Life Customs builds motorcycles of every description, and produces parts for sport bikes as well as choppers. Their biggest challenge is producing bikes that are one of a kind, because when people see their bikes they invariably say, "build me one just like it."
